Mysterious cell connection between mother and child

When a person carries cells from other people, it is called microchimerism. A cell exchange already takes place between mother and child during pregnancy. But how this happens and whether these cells affect the organism or health is something that needs to be answered in a current research project. A newly established international group of scientists, including Thomas Kroneis from Med Uni Graz, has received a grant of 5.4 million US dollars from the John Templeton Foundation to get to the bottom of the phenomenon.
